Autumn falls heavily on broken villages in nestling hills
Winter breathes tired sighs through the damaged boughs of stunted trees
Behold as smoke pools in valleys like debris
And the fingers of sleeping death creep
Into every crevice of the weathered ridgeline
And though the cycle is inherent and unabridged
And though the circle is imperfect, yet complete
Finality whispers her threats with terrifying assurances
Finality whispers the end of everything

There is no solace here
On the banks of freezing rivers
Above, the blinking spheres unaware
The earth rattles in seizures and fits
Ever nervous of the ever true
The knowledge that all rain will break in the slough
And the world is to be forgotten
Hydroptic and cold in the waste

Though we might jeopardize
What your tired eyes have known
To be trivial, it is not so.
